IN THE HAUNTED LIGHT: TARAGANA PYJARAMA
21 year old Danish producer Nick Eriksen, who goes under the moniker Taragana Pyjarama, has blown me away with his relaxed and beautifully melodic electronica project. There is just something so damn soothing about this music that makes it perfect for listening to at a BBQ in the park or on a balcony at sunset. Having just put out a solid 12” record of three originals and a remix (the digital release inculding the amazingly good remix of Ocean from Brooklyn’s dream electronica duo Teengirl Fantasy). Also a lot of good tracks on his soundcloud, including a remix he did for Delorean’s summer track Grow as well as more mixes and remixes. Check it out and relax…

Love Conversion by Corduroi

Haunted Ghost’s Chanson du Jour : like I do edition

Corduroi :: Love Conversion

When most people think of Austin, thoughts of smoky bar rock, blissed out psychedelic music, and good Mexican food come to mind. Corduroi (aka Cody Wilson) creates sublime, airy electronic music that is a welcome breath of fresh electro artistry coming from the sleeping desert town. Each synth trickle and erratic drum beat seems expertly timed, and there is an appreciation for silence and static that is harder and harder to come by in the world of well produced, Ableton based composition. A bit like float, like walking on air. A bit like weightlessness and with a bit of coy charm. This is good stuff. Download this track and his others from his soundcloud.

Addicted to D/R/U/G/S

The UK has always been a place where electronic music thrives and evolves, usually exporting to the US most of the styles of their time (like how dub-step is all the rage here now while the UK is doing that “so five years ago” yawn). One fresh group that has stood out to me for a while now is called D/R/U/G/S and they create some weird hybrid of dubstep, ambient, and just straight-up, poppin’ off, dance floor hits.

Here is Love (Love Lust) -their “big single” so to speak- a building ethereal club jam for the ages:

And here are a couple awesome remixes they did recently that I have not been able to put down. One is for the track Follow by Spanish band Crystal Fighters who’ve been making some serious waves in the scene lately. The other is for London based rising ambient all-stars Cymbals for their song Good Luck. Check it out!:

VIDEO MAGIC featuring-

Pogo :: Crimson

Aussie DJ and chop master Pogo (real name Nick Bertke) from Perth has been screwing with Disney movies and oldies for a while now, his most famous being his mashing and chopping of Alice in Wonderland on his debut release Wonderland. Now, perhaps it is in lieu of the Halloween season but instead of sticking to his recent theme of Pixar mashing (UPular and Toyz Noize) he’s done this artful collage of clips and sounds from Showtime’s brutal, bloody, brilliant television series Dexter. The result is a scraptacular piece of ambient electronic trip-hop genius. Check it out, mate.
