Victor Bermon :: Arriving at Night
Victor Bermon by Haunted Ghost
As a post-rock and ambient enthusiast, I am always overjoyed to find a new group who wells emotion in me naturally, not forcefully. To discover something that adds a texture to my life as a whole and paints my world in beautiful light and color, an array of scopiotone. Australian native Victor Bermon does just that. An ambient auteur, mixing elements of jazz, an array of classic stringed and brass instruments, and an electronic, glitch mentality, Bermon has created an atmosphere of utter tranquility. Like a soft spoken Four Tet or a more introspective version of The Field, Bermon knows exactly the tone he’s going for with his music and pulls it off too a tee. Nothing is overdone or too repetitive, and though some of the songs on the album sound the same, the subtlety of their differences makes them stand apart while at the same time completely a bigger idea or mood. The intentionality of each note creates a thoughtful piece, calculated with incisive clarity and precision. Victor Bermon’s only release - Arriving at Night - is currently being put out by Chicago based Hefty Records. How they found the Aussie, I don’t know, but I’m certainly glad they did.
