Helsinki 78-82, the duo of Kalle Wahlberg & Heikki Vaht, apparently have a favorite time period for the Helsinki electronic music scene, and it shows, not only in their name but in their music. Koobra, who makes up half the group, has obvious influence with the epicly high and huge snyth riffs. Cruising is the nice, ethereal kind of retro jam that really puts me in the mood to rent a convertible and drive along the coastline, or maybe just get on a bike and go down some large hills. The two are more engrained in the underground club scene and work doing a lot of remixes, straying more from overdoing it with original material, having put out an EP and doing a collab with Villa Nah. But all their remixes are pretty damn good, so head on over to their soundcloud and get ready for some feel good vibes.

Koobra :: It’s You
Well, it seems like the Helsinki electronic scene is in favor of the 80s and early 90s roaring synth lines, heavy drum hits, and vibrant rhythm structures. Electro producer Koobra is currently taking over the scene, making hits that harken to the soundtracks of movies like Tron and Running Man while keeping contemporary deep house vibes and dance floor. Funnily running concurrently with the same kind of 80s electro revival going on in Australia with producers like Muffin and the Presets.
