Hanne Kolstø :: The City

I only recently discovered solo songstress Hanne Kolstø, but there is something so intriguing and beautiful about her voice, its high, airy presence over the ethereal synth lines and sparse drum beats. I was hooked. From Kristiansand, Norway, the young songwriter uses mostly tape looping with guitar, piano, and found sound which she incorporates into her electronic production. Something like Frou Frou meets Fever Ray, there is a strangely ominous quality to the playful music she creates. These days she is playing mostly in Norway  but perhaps a European tour is not so far off. Also, check out the beautifully despondent track Wicker below.
